Software Updates

 

FORMAT USB DRIVE

Please ensure your USB drive is formated to FAT16 or FAT32. The PMX radio does not support NTSF or exFAT.

WINDOWS Computers APPLE Computers
  1. Insert Flash Drive into USB
  2. Click Start select Computer
    (on Windows 10, click File Folder)
  3. Right click Flash drive
  4. Click Format
  5. Click the File System list box and select FAT32
  6. Click Start to format the drive
  1. Insert Flash Drive into USB
  2. Search for Disk Utility and open application
  3. Select Flash Drive and click Erase
  4. Select MS-DOS (FAT)
  5. Confirm Erase to format the drive

 

FILE TYPES

  • GUI *.img (Graphical User Interface)
  • DECODE *.mva (Audio Decoder)
  • MCU *.smx (Micro Controller Unit)
  • BLUETOOTH *.dfu (Bluetooth Module)
  • SXM *.sxm (Sirius XM Module)

 

CHECK SOFTWARE VERSION

  1. Press & hold MENU button until options appear.
    Rotate ENCODER and scroll to SOFTWARE.

     
  2. Press ENCODER to select VERSION.
  3. Menu will display current SOFTWARE VERSION.


UPDATE SOFTWARE

There are up to (5) five files to upgrade the source unit. You must only have the upgrade files on the USB flash drive. DO NOT leave any other files other than the required files on the USB or the update will fail.
 

    1. Download below software to USB flash drive (be sure to "Format USB Drive" as shown above.)
      Extract update files from ZIP using unpacker utility like 7-Zip or Win-Zip before proceeding.

  1. Insert USB into the radio's rear USB connector.
     
  2. Momentarily press the SRC button.
    Rotate the ENCODER and scroll to USB.

     
  3. If multiple files are being uploaded on USB, rotate ENCODER and push to select YES.

     
  4. DO NOT turn-off power while performing software updates.

Factory Plug Adaptors
We offer factory plug adaptors as an accessory part for Authorized Dealers who need these to power units in display boards, for customers that have aftermarket radios and the OEM plug(s) have been cut-off, and customers adding rear speakers to a bike that did not previously have rear speakers (you will only need the rear harness.)  The small connector is power, ground, ACC, illumination, and front speaker outputs. The other connector only has rear speaker outputs.
